Violence can be a serious obstacle for development. Often women experience violence by someone they truly love and trust. One in three women is victim to this violence. Women who are subjected to domestic violence, abuse, rape, and other forms of violence are affected mentally, emotionally, and physically. The International Day on violence against women is a shout-out to the world against any violence caused to women.

The International Day on violence against women is celebrated every year on November 25. The primary reason for this day to be observed is to create awareness about violence against women.
