Raksha Bandhan is a traditional Hindu Festival celebrated every year on full moon day of the Shravan month (August) symbolize the sister love and prayers for her brother well being and in return brother take the vow to protect his sister for lifelong . Raksha Bandhan is also known as Rakhi Purnima or simply Rakhi in many parts of India.
There are many legends and stories are associated with this unique festival. One of the popular story associated with Raksha Bandhan is from our history. In medieval era, Rajputs were fighting against the Muslim invasions then Rani Karnawati the widowed queen of the king of Chittor sent a Rakhi to Emperor Humayun requesting him to save her kingdom and life. Humayun Emperor deeply touched by the Queen gesture and reached Chittor with his troops without wasting any time to protect his sister. Since than this small ritual become festival.
