Independence Day is a National Festival of India celebrated annually on 15 August. India got freedom on 15 August 1947 from the British rule after lots of hard struggle and sacrifices made by Indian freedom fighters. It is a significant day for all Indians as we celebrate our freedom that we get from the British rule after 150 years of slavery. People of India pay heartfelt homage to the great freedom fighters and leaders who really work hard for independent India. Today we are living in free country and enjoy the fundamental rights guaranteed by our constitution because of their efforts and countless sacrifices only.
On 15 August, 1947 Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India hoisted the National Flag of India at Red fort Delhi first time. Following that occasion, on every Independence Day, the Prime Minister hoists the tricolor national flag and addresses the nation. He also pays tribute to the freedom fighters for their contribution and struggle. Independence Day is celebrated in all the states and Union Territories of India.But in Delhi, it is celebrated in a special way. All offices, shops, factories and other business establishments remain closed on this day. The National Flag hoisting ceremony is also observed in schools, colleges, societies and government offices. This motivates both young and old to come forward and contribute towards the nation.
At this day as being an Indian, we should feel proud and must take an oath to keep ourselves loyal and patriotic in order to save our motherland from any type of attack or humiliation by other countries. We should not consider this day as another holiday. This is the day when we all should proud to be an Indian and should celebrate with great enthusiasm and patriotism with friends and family.
