El Nino

El Nino :

  • El Niño is a climate cycle that occurs in the Pacific Ocean
  • This cycle happens along with a global impact on weather pattern
  • El Nino occurs during the months of December and January
  • During this event, ocean temperatures and rainfall from storms change direction to the east
  • An Ek Nino occurs every 3 to 5 years

El Nino : (Short Essay)

An unusually warm ocean temperatures in the Equatorial Pacific that occurs once in every 3 to 5 years is called El Nino. In other words, El Nino is the oscillation of the ocean atmosphere system especially in the tropical Pacific. Generally, El Nino has global impact on the weather patterns. We can identify an El Nino when we see the weakened trade winds in the Central and Western Pacific. Surface water temperatures off South America become warmer. This is generally due to the reason that the cold water does not up well much from below to cool the surface. The clouds, rainstorms or any such aspects that are related to warm ocean waters shift toward the east. As a result, a lot of energy is released by the warm waters causing a drastic weather change all over the planet.

El Nino : (Brief Essay)

El Nino (means The Little Boy or Christ child in Spanish) is a Southern Oscillation (A Climate Cycle) that creates a global impact in the weather patterns every 3 to 5 years. An El Nino is declared to happen when the warm waters of western tropical Pacific Ocean shift to the east. During an el Nino, ocean temperatures and rainfall from storms suddenly move towards the east.

El Niños occur every three to five years. Sometimes they occur once in 2 years few other times they occur every seven years. An El Nino lasts 9 months to 12 months. They can be seen their peak during the months of December and January.

During an El Niño:

  • We can observe weaker trade winds Central and Western Pacific
  • Clouds and rainstorms that are concerned to the warm ocean waters move to the east
  • The warm waters release a lot of energy
  • There occurs weather changes in a global level which has a great impact all over the planet

Across the globe:

  • We  can observe  a below average rainfall in the valleys of Ohio and Tennessee and the Pacific Northwest during an El Niño
  • We can see record rainfalls in Peru, Chile and Ecuador in an El Niño year
  • The amount pf Fish catches offshore South America get lower because most of the marine life migrate during El Nino
  • We can observe a lot of changes in the precipitation Inonesia and northeastern South America
  • Australia and Southeast Asia are hotter than average in an El Nino year
  • El Niño is also capable of causing drought in India, Southeast Asia, Southern Africa, Australia, the Pacific Islands and the Canadian prairies.
